Approach and Purpose

Orange Innovation Center supports initiatives in sustainable industry, artisanship, and community service.

The Center will bolster the permanent upswing in the economic revitalization of Orange and its surrounding environs. It will accomplish this by providing affordable space in a collaborative, incubator-style setting for the community.

The landmark building is well along in its reconfiguration as a home for responsible industries, craftsmanship, and social service. The artists-in-residence serve as the cultural magnet while manufacturing and tech industries create jobs, mentor start-ups, and draw investment. The agencies are the first responders to crisis in our community, plus, within the OIC, they can help articulate healthy organizational growth in many of the on-site entities.

As contributing effort and support push Orange past the preliminary stages, environmentally-conscience (Green) building principles will elevate the conversion of the OIC into a high performance building with aesthetics to match. Adjunct staff will assist qualifying tenants with grants, planning, and management. Requisite amenities will be in place to facilitate day-to-day needs and networking.

The OIC won't thrive in isolation. It is part of our mission to be mindful of other local development efforts in the area: natural resource and eco-tourism, mixed use establishments, and pragmatic approaches to furthering economic advancements in the region. But we will not duplicate existing efforts; rather, we will encourage and keep step with all that is unique about Orange.
